lyrics

When the drops of rain were dripping down his face
His legs grew heavy and everything felt sore
With the tramway lights gone in the haze he swore and made offensive signs
Sat down and wished he'd never had to go

He longed to be a dauntless man
But the gang downtown prooved to him he's not
'cause when he tried to raise his voice
Everything they heard was a stuttered "don't"

In the evening he wandered through the streets
Of the suburbs where it's peaceful, quiet and calm
Right there he saw a gang race up the road and realized
It's him that they were looking for

He tried to raise his voice
But everything they heard was a stuttered "don't"
He always longed to be a dauntless man
But the gang downtown prooved to him he's not

And then he asked himself, "Am I really such a fool
To let some stupid people spoil my day?
Why did I talk myself into being such an easy prey
Who cries how life has always been so cruel?"

So he said,
"My time is yet to come
But I'm sure that yours is gone"
